BVNS Springfield
Originally developed for humans, the Glasgow Coma Scale was modified for veterinary use to evaluate dogs with head trauma. The MGCS consists of three categories: motor activity, brainstem reflexes, and level of consciousness, each scored from 1 to 6. This scoring system helps monitor the progression of neurological deficits and informs treatment decisions. The MGCS is particularly useful in patients with altered levels of consciousness or recent head trauma, serving as a prognostic indicator for veterinarians.
