Over 200 interstitial lung diseases, from ultra rare to relatively common, are recognised. Most interstitial lung diseases are characterised by inflammation or fibrosis within the interstitial space, leading to impaired gas exchange and various clinical outcomes. Recent advances in treatment options have emerged, particularly for progressive pulmonary fibrosis. This document summarizes the latest practice-changing guidelines and discusses future directions in the management of these conditions.
