Ajay K. Singh
The study enrolled incident dialysis patients with chronic kidney disease across 90 centers in 14 countries between May 2017 and September 2020. Participants were randomized 1:1 to receive either oral daprodustat or injectable darbepoetin alfa. Primary outcomes included hemoglobin response and safety endpoints such as cardiovascular events and mortality. Secondary analyses examined iron parameters, transfusion requirements, and adverse event profiles. The trial provides evidence on the efficacy of a hypoxia‑inducible factor prolyl hydroxylase inhibitor as an alternative to conventional erythropoiesis‑stimulating agents.
