Obstetrics & Gynecology
The E-MOTIVE strategy is a comprehensive approach to managing postpartum hemorrhage (PPH), defined as excessive bleeding after birth (greater than 500ml for vaginal delivery, 1000ml for cesarean delivery). It aims to standardize and expedite care through a structured bundle of interventions. The bundle includes Early detection using calibrated drapes, Uterine massage, Oxytocic drugs, Tranexamic acid, Intravenous fluids, and Examination and Escalation of care. Implementation requires training, teamwork, protocol adherence, and continuous monitoring, with strategies to address resource limitations and resistance to change.
