Cardiovascular-kidney-metabolic (CKM) syndrome is a recently defined clinical entity that encompasses cardiovascular disease, chronic kidney disease, and metabolic disorders. SGLT-2 inhibitors are a novel class of oral hypoglycemic agents that have shown substantial effects on renal and cardiovascular outcomes. This document discusses the mechanisms by which SGLT-2 inhibitors improve glycemic control, reduce body weight, and lower blood pressure, as well as their systemic benefits and potential adverse effects.
